Clonakilty 100 Years Ago- An exhibition curated by the students of Clonakilty Community College.
This free exhibition will tell the events and tales of Clonakilty, Ireland and the rest of the world as it was in 1918. With information boards and an interactive digital map of Clonakilty. Come along to see how much (or how little) has changed in 100 years.
The curatorial project and mentoring programme, initiated by Michael Collins House, gives the students the opportunity and the budget to organise and curate a full exhibition of their choice to display in the museum. When thinking of a project the students were instantly attracted to the theme of a local project as Clonakilty itself is a treasure trove of history. Apart from the historical research the students have worked together and have developed wide ranging skills such as teamwork, creative design, financial budgeting and marketing. The students themselves are proud to show off the fruits of their labour with this professional standard exhibit.
