Official Opening- Sean Hurley Exhibit

Michael Collins House will officially unveil an exhibit, including some important artefacts, on Seán Hurley.

Sean Hurley, born in 1887 in Drinagh, Co.Cork was the only Cork born volunteer who was killed in action during the Easter Rising in Dublin in 1916. He was also a close friend of Michael Collins’ with both men taking very similar paths in their youth.

 

Cork Mayor, Declan Hurley, will officially unveil the permanent exhibit for the first time. A valuable addition to Michael Collins House and both local and national history. See Sean Hurley’s personal pocket watch, his 1916 Military Medal, and a letter from the Capuchin Friar, Augustine to Seán’s mother informing her of his death in the 1916 Rising and learn all about Seán, his life and his sacrifice on the information board.

Come join us for some refreshments, light entertainment and to be one of the first to see this important exhibit.
